Stryker Sunset

A few shots of a gorgeous sunset. It really was a beautiful sunset that is not done justice by these shots. My excuse is they were taken from the rear hatch of the Stryker moving in the direction of the sunset, so not only was I bouncing down a dusty little road, but I was trying to get a clear shot through all the โ€˜stuffโ€™ on top of a Stryker.

Thanks for looking.

Beautiful pictures! A soldier once told us that he hated the smell of Afghanistan…does it smell different there?

Another comment on some of your previous posts…sometimes I have wondered what the goats feed on when it appears that the countryside has nothing to offer. Is there some scrubby stuff for them to eat even though it appears that there is only dirt and rocks? Recently there is some greenery but often it’s just brown and dusty looking.

    Thanks and please stay safe!

PS I had pygmy goats for a time…cute little critters!

I can’t say that ‘Afghanistan’ smells…some things in Afghanistan smell, especially the poo pond at KAF and most of the latrines. Inside some of the crowded compounds & buildings smell, but the open air country doesn’t…maybe that is why I like being here at Sweeney or up at Mizan – it is peaceful and refreshing. However, it certainly isn’t the same kind of refreshing you get amongst the grass & trees back home!

Goats can survive on seemingly anything, but yes, there is always some sort of little stubble around.

Dan, weather question: how warm/uncomfortable is it getting there? Do you and your men have “cool scarves”? Please let me know…I can make some, they’re quick and easy. Just let me know ๐Ÿ™‚
