      one of the things I really like about Mizan – there is green vegetation & of course some wild flowers. The area around Apache is so much more barren.

    The poppies are beautiful…I like the bright colors and the contrast against the blue sky. Hey, blue sky – so many pictures from Afghanistan have a dirty, dusty brownish sky.

  6. So beautiful, so… reminiscent of heroine production 😉 Sorry, couldn’t resist! But really, it seems poppies are forever linked with warfare and barbarism, aren’t they? Flanders Fields, Afghanistan, as if beauty seeks to infiltrate the war-torn places.

  9. As always, very beautiful photos. And the color’s are so refreshing! So much different than the brown and dusty yellows we usually associate with Afghanistan.
