LTC Dan Bohmer of Moorhead, Minnesota is a really good photographer. He is currently deployed with the same group of Soldiers I’ll be embedding with during my stay in Afghanistan. Luckily for me he has started his own blog; his latest post shows off both his skilled use of a camera and the martian beauty of the filtered landscape.

  2. Lovely sunset..barren but mysterious 😉

  3. Once upon a time I lived in Afghanistan. It changed my life forever. Thank you for showing the world a side of Afghanistan rarely seen – the beauty of the landscape and the people. How are you doing in Kandahar after the recent shootings?

One of the things I remember most about my deployment to Afghanistan is it’s beauty. I was stationed at Gardez and the high and rugged mountains were so majestic! How I longed to just be able to go hiking and exploring!

I remember sitting on a mountain peak that hosted an ANA look out post for a fire base we were building and being just amazed at the incredible vistas and the sheer beauty of what I saw. I told some of the Afghan soldiers that if that country ever had true peace that eco-tourism could really take off!
